This book contains almost all of my favorite poems by Anna Akhmatova, including her fabulous long poem "Requiem," which inspired my own collection, "Flowers for a Young Man's Grave." I don't read, speak, or write Russian, but I love how this translation reads in English. I can't speak for the quality of the translation, but it is very similar to other translations I have read. Akhmatova is one of my favorite poets--so sad and yet so mystical and transcendent. A modern John Donne. Bravo!
